Slob
Slob is a Dark Skeleton dressed in a yellow hazmat suit with blue gloves and a cracked fishbowl helmet leaking blood. Its suit has swollen, likely from pressurized, infected fluids.
Overview
Slob is a tanky infected that explodes upon death, causing damage to all entities in its radius. The explosion it makes is made out of three separate blows, each having different radius and damage:
- The biggest explosion deals 5 damage, and has a radius of ~75;
- The middle explosion deals 10 damage, and has a radius of ~40;
- The smallest explosion deals 20 damage, and has a radius of ~20;
Units hit by Slob's explosion are guaranteed to get poisoned. Currently, the explosions' damage doesn't scale with Slob's level.
Slob is immune to fire damage, and has high resistance to knockback.
Strategy
Slob is a problematic enemy due to its high health and death explosion. It damages every unit, zombie and rage object caught in its very large area of effect. Although the explosion damage is much lower compared to Fat Zombie's, it applies an endless poison effect on human units who aren't poison-resistant, meaning they will face a slow, unavoidable death afterwards, if they survive.
Slobs are often presented in small numbers as a part of Epidemiologist swarms. As both of these zombies are fire-resistant, Molotov Cocktail and Flamethrower are obviously useless against them. However, Red Barrel is still a good choice as its explosion can decently damage them.
The safest way to deal with Slob is to use ranged units. Sheriff Charlotte or Sniper Polina can be used to pick off Slobs from a safe distance thanks to their very long attack range, which allows them to stay away from the explosion. It may be necessary to support them with melee units/rage abilities in order to stop Slob from inching close. Carlos or Gunslinger, if properly upgraded, can be used to eliminate, or at least weaken, other zombies on the battlefield, allowing the snipers to better focus on killing Slobs. Ranged units with spread damage can also work well, although they may be vulnerable to Slob's poisonous explosion due to their modest attack range.
Firefighter is a direct counter to Slob, as he is the only early level unit to have both poison and explosion resistance, which enables him to fight Slobs safely. He will need the help of items to ensure he can efficiently kill them off and must be supported against other enemies. If avaliable, Medic and Light Soldier are possible options, as they are durable enough to survive Slob's initial explosion, and Medic can support non-resistant units with Medkits, keeping them alive longer.
Trivia
- Internally, Slob is reffered to as "Fat Yellow".
