The Infected Metro is a gauntlet-styled gamemode where players have to progress through a set of stages in rapid succession, aiming to achieve the lowest time possible for supplies. It takes place in an abandoned metro system.
It can be accessed after a player has accumulated 90 Stars. It is found in the Stage Select menu.
Players must select a Station from the selection screen. No resources are required to start. Each Station has three stages that must be beaten one after another. The player must fight the set onscreen amount of enemies and successfully kill them all. A counter on the top right will track the required kills. Once that is done, a player will move onto the next part. If the bus is destroyed, the player will only have to restart the current stage, not the entire Station. There is no penalty for losing besides restarting. All enemies are in set positions, and will not change their position upon restarting the stage. This makes replays predictable.
After every stage ends, the player will have their courage and rage reset, as though it were a completely new level. During a stage, additional enemies than the ones normally onscreen will appear from the right side of the stage. These enemies are not required to be killed, though most of the time it will be necessary should they stand in the way of required targets.
If a pre-placed enemy can produce more enemies (I.E. Egg, Necromancer, and Sapper), any enemies spawned from them must also be eliminated. Likewise, threats like Undead and Sergeant can only be removed from play by exhausting their revives or burning them to death. Marauders are exempt from this. As long as all marauders are killed, a stage can progress regardless if they manage to turn after death or not.
In order to play, a set deck will need to be selected. Starting at Station 5, players will be required to bring a second deck into battle. Each stage from now on will have a second "part" that requires a second deck. Neither deck can share units, so each deck must have wholly unique units. There is no option to switch decks after starting a Station, so strategy must be utilized for which units to bring.
All units gain an AI upgrade to look behind themselves incase an enemy gets behind them. They will then attempt to kill them before facing forward again. Units will also stand idle if no zombies are alive or present to kill.
Each stage has a set of rewards, consisting of Power Points and Buffs. The run can be quit at any time, and stars will be given based on the stages completed. However, the run will not be considered finished and the rewards for the selected stage will not be earned.
The Infected Metro has 8 set Stations. Every Station has rewards for completing each stage, consisting of Power Points and Buffs. These rewards can only be claimed once per completion.
Additionally, each station will have a set of objectives to complete, if completed the player will be rewarded with a star. These stars go towards a counter for each station, with a goal post at 3, 6 and 9 stars respectively with increasing rewards. The star rewards are always as follows:
There is also a leaderboard for the quickest time to complete Station 12, with the following awards given to players:
If a player has already received the top 100 rewards, it will be instead the following:

Ranks are small icons that can be seen next to every player's nickname. They indicate how many times the player has managed to stay in top 100. These ranks are not only displayed in the Metro's leaderboard but in the player's event leaderboard scores and missions deck as well.
