Egg
Egg is a spherical living mound covered in yellow pustules and brown growths. A large blue energy sack is nestled inside its structure. Four stubs lay perpendicular to each other to help keep itself planted to the ground. It emanates floating blue particles around itself.
Overview
Egg is a special enemy that is unable to move and attack units directly. Instead, whenever an Egg gets struck with a melee attack it awakens and starts spawning Energy Spheres. It will immediately spawn one sphere right after getting awakened, and all upcoming ones will come with a 6 second delay between each other.
Depending on how much damage was dealt to an awoken Egg, it will go through more cycles of spawning and idling. Taking at least one point of damage is enough for an Egg to get a single cycle. If it doesn't receive any damage in a long enough period, it will deactivate.
While sleeping, Egg is completely invulnerable to ranged damage and won't react to it. None of resistances-ignoring tools are able to penetrate Egg's protection. In addition, it's fully immune to fire damage and knockback. It also won't react to Willy's tasing, but it will awake from Dr. Norman's nitrogen fumes.
Strategy
The main strategy for destroying Egg is to use several ranged units, preferably those with a high rate of fire. As soon as they are prepared, they must be sent out. Egg won't take any damage from them while it is inactive so allow for a few of them to converge in front of it before proceeding with the next step. Once enough ranged units have been sent out, hit Egg with either Empty Barrel, Red Barrel, or a spam melee unit. The last option might be more preferable since they can also sacrifice themselves to ensure that the Energy Sphere it spawns doesn't manage to kill an important ranged unit, unless the existing setup does not allow the energy sphere to survive. After that, Egg must be constantly attacked so it remains active and vulnerable.
Turret, a rage ability with a high rate of fire, is highly recommended as it can deal lots of damage to an active Egg and destroy Energy Spheres as it can't be targeted by them. It's highly recommended bringing it along to not only aid in destroying Egg but also other high health enemies that may appear during the mission. Nitrogen, another rage ability, can be used to great advantage in order to severely slow down Egg and drastically extend its vulnerability period. Since it also does melee damage, it can be used to remove Egg's protection as well. To a similar end, Dr. Norman's freeze blasts can damage the Egg even when it is invincible, triggering it into attacking.
While the strategy is usually the same, fighting Egg may vary depending on the mission it appears in. If a mission with Egg has Charged Zombie constantly attacking, unit spam should be more frequent and barrels should be focused more on them rather than keeping Egg active. If Egg appears on a mission via Warthog, prioritize Egg only after a majority of enemies are defeated. This will allow plenty of ranged units to build up while getting rid of lesser enemies on the battlefield so by the time they're taken care of, ranged units can focus fire on Egg, or Warthog, if it is still somehow present.
A rather humorous yet surprisingly effective strategy is to send out many fast and cheap melee units all at once in rapid succession. Having almost a full courage meter is preferable before proceeding with this strategy. Bringing Generator and Medkit are both highly recommended to help build up a lot of units and keeping them alive longer respectively. Using Energy Drink buff to send out more units quickly is also recommended but isn't particularly necessary. Once a decent buildup of units converge on Egg, the Offal spawned by the ensuing Energy Sphere should be immediately killed off by the remaining melee units before continuing their onslaught. It is important to keep spamming units to replace any that are destroyed and maintain high team DPS. Optionally, Fury buff can be used to further increase all melee unit damage. If successful, the wall of melee units should prove no match for any remaining Eggs or zombies in the way as well as the barricade.
