Paramedic is an infected armed with a pair of malfunctioning defibrillators and dressed in a torn red fireproof paramedic uniform with yellow reflective strips. He carries his defibrillators in a yellow AED cabinet strapped to his back. He has a bloody, gaping mouth and parts of his body have swollen.

Overview

Paramedic is an enemy that has extreme tankiness for the stage it first appears in. Its treated as a boss for Location 1, and later appears as a regular enemy throughout the game. It possesses a high level of knockback resistance.

Paramedic has an ability to randomly charge itself with electricity. While in this state, it's unable to move, and becomes immune to bullet damage. If Paramedic gets struck with a melee, fire, or explosive attack while being invulnerable, it exits the state, and creates a lightning bolt that deals fire damage to all other nearby entities. This attack does apply afterburn however.

Paramedic can only stay charged for 20 seconds, after which it simply reverts to its neutral state. Its bullet resistance while in its charged state can be penetrated with the Tactical set or Sniper Polina's SA, allowing to damage a charged Paramedic without setting off its lightning. True damage attacks, such as Dr. Norman's fumes, do not trigger the discharge either. Additionally, Paramedic's state becomes temporarily disabled while it's frozen: it loses its bullet resistance, and the discharge can't be triggered.

Trivia

  • Paramedic, along with EMT, are the only enemies to face left in the Zombiepedia.
    • Coincidentally, both zombies share the similarity of being able to perform lightning attacks.
  • Internally, Paramedic is referred to as "Megavolt", which might be a reference to the villain of the same name from Darkwing Duck.
