Warthog is an infected dressed in black pants. It has glowing blue skin and brightly glowing blue eyes. Yellow pustules, blue energy mounds, and brown growths have grown outwards all over its upper body, forcing its head back and causing it to always face upright.

Overview

Warthog is a special end-game zombie with extremely high health. While it's present on the battlefield, it can randomly activate its ability that transforms Warthog into an Egg. The Egg will have full HP and be in a sleeping state. There are no restrictions on the ability, and it can activate even if Warthog gets close to the bus.

Warthog's transformation animation has to finish completely in order for it to spawn an Egg. Otherwise, it can be killed in the middle of it, preventing the ovomorph from appearing.

Warthog is immune to fire damage.

Strategy

One common approach to defeat Warthog is with stacks of ranged units, which may be able to get rid of anything else in the way and then start whittling Warthog, although players are wise to factor the resultant Egg in their strategy. Warthog also cannot transform when attacking, so a well-timed Empty Barrel/Red Barrel can be used to block it and buy additional time.

Trivia

• Closely inspecting the animation for Warthog's transformation into Egg reveals that its limbs make up for most of the perpendicular stubs underneath it. Only the upper-right stub seems to have been made from Egg itself.
• If Warthog is killed during its transformation animation, the Egg fails to deploy.
