Van

From Dead Ahead Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

The van is a fairly worn-out red vehicle. It is outfitted with welded window attachments, exhaust pipes, a metal step, and a roof-mounted light bar. The side door is gray and the back doors are missing, with two metal beams put across from each other in its place.

This vehicle serves as a replacement of Bus during Supply Runs and holiday events. In general, it has a similar purpose to its main game precursor – the player has to protect it in order to continue playing the event.

Unlike the bus, the van is only used as a criteria of the player's ability to proceed with their event session: units don't come out of it as they are manually placed onto the field. It serves no real purpose during supply runs, simply appearing in the background and moving through it.

Differences

In the Halloween Event, the van is protected by a set of electric spears on its front bumper that zaps enemies who hit it. It's the only form of self-protection it has and has six uses total. Enemies who manage to reach and attack it typically die after one zap. However, some high health enemies in the event, such as Putrid and SWAT (Zombie), can take multiple zaps before finally being killed off. After all parts of this fence gets used up and destroyed, the van becomes critically vulnerable without units to defend it and can be destroyed in a couple of hits.

In the Christmas Event, the van serves more as an escort for players to take care of. Although it rarely needs to be protected due to the nature of fights, in the event of its destruction from enemy units, running into too many stationary units, or a combination of both, the van will break down and the player's attempt will immediately end. Managing to destroy the enemy's van also serves no benefits to players either.

In Supply Runs, the van is merely a background object that plays no role in the game. Once the player's units manage to advance or if they lose the Supply Run, the van drives forwards.

Stats

Durability

Similarly to bus, the van has a certain amount of durability: 100.

The set of electric spears attached to the van's front bumper acts as a separate health bar made out of SP (shield points). It has 100 hit points, however, it only takes six hits before being destroyed.

Damage

The electric spears also serve as a source of electrical damage since it ignores all forms of resistance. As long as it's still active, whenever an enemy attacks the van, they will get electrocuted. The zap deals 500 damage.

Trivia

  • The van appears to be based on a 1997-2002 Ford Econoline van.
  • Welder will never try to repair the van.
  • The van possesses several bus parts. Although these parts slightly increase durability for the bus, the ones on the van are entirely cosmetic.
