Huge and bloated, as if about to burst from internal gases. It seems like these gases are very cold, protecting the zombie from fire.

Blubber is a large infected dressed in black pants. He has grey flesh and glowing blue skin. He has a swollen, veiny stomach, and has lumps around his lower face, neck, shoulders, and arm. One of his eyes is blue.

Overview

Blubber is a special infected that explodes upon death, causing damage to all entities in its radius. The explosion it makes is made out of three separate blows, each having different radius and damage:

  • The biggest explosion deals 325 damage, and has a radius of 100;
  • The middle explosion deals 650 damage, and has a radius of 40;
  • The smallest explosion deals 1300 damage, and has a radius of 20;

Blubber's explosion is guaranteed to freeze all entities that it strikes for 3 seconds.

Aside from exploding, Blubber also spawns a chunk of flesh after its death that will fly in a random direction before landing. If it hits someone, it will deal them 350 damage.

Blubber can't directly attack units. It possesses some resistance to knockback. Currently, none of Blubber's explosion-related attacks scale with its level.

Strategy

Much like Fat Zombie or Slob, it's better to deal with Blubber from afar. Using ranged units is the best option as no unit is capable of dealing with the stun effect after it explodes.

Blubber's on-death explosion stun affects all units and enemies around it. This can potentially be exploited to stall other enemies around him for a short duration and allow other units to follow up on it. This is very useful when Blubber appears in missions with Eggs, as it allows both melee and ranged units to do damage to it without the threat of it spawning Energy Sphere.
